Can I buy crypto without giving ID?
Barely, and the routes that promise it charge heavily for it or are not what they claim.
Any platform connected to the banking system runs identity checks. That comes from the rules that let it hold money at all, not from a policy it chose, so it is not something to shop around for.
Small amounts at some crypto ATMs, and peer-to-peer trades in some countries, still work with lighter verification — but both cost far more, and in several countries the operators are required to verify anyway. Where a service advertises no checks at all, that is usually the tell rather than the feature: unlicensed operators are the ones with nothing to lose when your money does not arrive.
Worth separating two different wishes. Not wanting to hand documents to a random website is reasonable, and the answer is choosing a registered platform rather than an unverified one. Wanting the transaction to be untraceable is a different thing, and the public ledger does not cooperate with it.
Country pages record what verification each route actually requires.
