Is crypto legal where I live?
In most places yes, with rules attached. The rules differ enormously, and the details are on the country pages.
Owning and trading crypto is legal in most countries. What varies is everything around it: which platforms may operate, what verification they must run, how it is taxed, and whether specific activities such as cash machines or derivatives are restricted.
A handful of countries restrict or prohibit it, and several more have banned banks from serving crypto businesses while leaving ownership legal — which produces the odd situation where the activity is lawful and the payment rail is not.
We do not answer this by memory. Each country page records the legal status, the supervising authority and the date it was checked, with links to the regulator's own document.
One caution: this area changes faster than almost anything else on this site, and a page written a year ago somewhere else is worse than no answer.
Country pages, each with its sources.
