Quick answer

I lost my phone. Are my coins gone?

Not if you have the recovery phrase. The phone was a window; the phrase is the thing.

A wallet app is an interface to keys, not the keys themselves. Install the same kind of wallet on a new device, restore from the recovery phrase, and the balances reappear — they never left the chain.

If the phrase is gone as well, so are the coins. There is no account recovery, no support desk and no procedure, because nobody else ever had the key.

Coins held on an exchange are a different case: that is an account, and account recovery exists. Expect identity checks and a delay, and be aware that a lost phone with an authenticator app on it makes it slower.

Two things worth doing before it happens: test that your written phrase actually restores, and keep a second factor for exchange accounts that is not tied to the same phone.

If you lose access goes case by case.
