What is MiCA and does it affect me?
The EU-wide rulebook for crypto firms. It changes which platforms may serve you and what they must do.
MiCA is the European Union's regulation for crypto-asset service providers. It replaces a patchwork of national regimes with one authorisation that works across the bloc, and it sets rules for stablecoin issuers, custody, complaints and disclosures.
For an ordinary user it mostly shows up indirectly: platforms serving EU customers need authorisation, some assets are delisted or restricted, and stablecoins that do not meet the requirements disappear from EU platforms.
The authoritative check is the register — an authorised firm appears in the European register, and a national list is not a substitute. Implementation has not been uniform, and at least one member state has not implemented it at all, which means no national licences are issued there and only the EU register counts.
MiCA and CASP define the terms; each European country page records the current position with its source.
