Which network should I use to send USDT?
Whichever the recipient asks for. The same ticker exists on many chains and they cannot receive each other.
USDT is not one thing. The same name exists as separate tokens on Ethereum, Tron, Solana and several other networks, and each is only movable on its own chain.
So the question is answered by the receiving side, always. An exchange deposit page states the networks it accepts; a wallet address belongs to a specific network. Sending on a network the recipient does not support is the single most common expensive mistake in crypto.
Cost differs sharply between them, which is why people choose — but cost never overrides what the recipient supports.
Two habits remove the problem: read the deposit page every time rather than reusing an address from memory, and send a small test amount first.
The address checker tells you which network an address format belongs to, and the wrong-network answer covers what happens when it goes wrong.
