Indonesia moved its crypto register, and the old page still answers

Checked 19 Oct 2026 3 min read

Supervision moved to a different authority in January 2025. The previous regulator's crypto page is still online, still indexed — and now shows nothing at all.

In January 2025 Indonesia moved supervision of crypto trading from the trade ministry's commodity agency to the financial services authority. The handover was signed, announced, and is entirely public.

What nobody tidied up is the old page. The commodity agency's list of registered crypto traders is still online, still reachable from search, and still looks exactly like an official register. It now contains a table with column headers and zero rows.

A 404 tells you to look elsewhere. An empty table tells you something false: that nobody in Indonesia is registered to trade crypto. A reader doing exactly the right thing — going to the regulator rather than trusting a badge on a platform's website — arrives at a page that answers their question incorrectly.

The current list lives with the financial services authority, is published as a dated PDF, and is reissued every few weeks. As of the September 2026 edition it carries both fully licensed traders and a smaller group still in a transitional status, which is a distinction worth noticing before you read a name on it as a clean bill of health.

The general lesson, not the Indonesian one

When supervision changes hands — and in this field it does, often — the old page usually outlives the old regime. Check the date on whatever list you are reading. If it does not carry one, that is itself the answer.

Where to look now

The registers page links the current index for Indonesia and names the format you will find there, because "check the register" turns out to mean five different things depending on the country. For Indonesia it means opening the newest dated file, not searching a database.

If you are buying there, the country page covers which routes work and what each one verifies.
